With a cancelled track meet early in the week due to the weather that limited the Tigers’ workload, ADM looks to the next week to get the momentum back.

Girls Golf

ADM has been one of the most consistently strong teams in the Raccoon River Conference the past few seasons and on an upward trajectory. They’ve finished the past three seasons at the conference meet consecutively in fourth, third and second place. That only leaves first place left on the checklist.

To get that honor, the Tigers have a large rotation led by co-captain Cecelia Gardiner who had the team’s lowest combined average score of 51 strokes as a junior.

But with six varsity members from last season averaging under 56 strokes, ADM had a roster with half a dozen scorers that could top the chart meet-to-meet. While Gardiner hit 107 for 26th place at the RRC meet last season, returning junior Hattie Lande secured 17th place at 97 strokes. That was her prime performance of the season, leaving on a high note.

Making a jump on the roster — absent from the varsity rotation in 2023 — senior Delaney Kahler is listed as a co-captain this season. Rounding out the returning roster, Annelise Kreifels averaged sub-57 last year as a sophomore.

The Tigers open their season Monday for a one-on-one match with Gilbert playing in Ames.

Boys Golf

Out of 90 rounds played last season for ADM, only one was from a senior golfer. That leaves a world of possibilities for a team that placed fourth at the final meet of the season.

From the state meet roster: Easton Korell, Lincoln Banwart, Finn Garton, Grant Jansen, Grant Hickey and Carter Madison are all returning for the Tigers.

Making his way to a podium finish as a junior, Korell placed eighth overall, wrapping a supreme 2023 season with a combined average score of 39 strokes. And with Garton, Jansen, Hickey and Madison all averaging scores under 42, the Tigers’ roster was always competitive among itself.

About the only thing that was missing from the 2023 season in Adel was a Raccoon River Conference title. That was owned by Gilbert, winning the crown by just four strokes over the Tigers (who also finished one spot ahead at state by four strokes).

ADM’s first public action this year comes April 8 in Winterset.

Girls Soccer (0-1)

After opening the season with a win over Norwalk last year, the 2024 campaign started with a different note, falling 4-0 to the Warriors on Monday. All four goals came in the back half of the game.

ADM will return to their home turf on Thursday to reverse course with a Raccoon River matchup against North Polk (1-0). The Tigers have yet to beat the Comets, losing three times to the fellow state 2023 tournament team.
