Adam Driver Transforms for 'White Noise'Netflix

Netflix have just dropped the first full official trailer for White Noise, Noah Baumbach's directorial follow-up to 2019's Marriage Story. For this movie, which he adapted from Don DeLillo's critically acclaimed postmodern novel, Baumbach has reunited with Marriage Story actor Adam Driver, who appears to have completely morphed from his usual shredded, stylish self into a harried, out-of-shape, prematurely ageing father of four—receding hairline and all

Truly, those House of Gucci glasses have got nothing on this transformation.

What is the plot of White Noise?

Set in the 1980s, White Noise follows a suburban family as they grapple with their own fear of death when an airborne toxin is released from a rail car following an accident. Of course, this being a Baumbach/DeLillo film, it's fair to assume that White Noise won't follow the traditional beats we have come to associate with a generic disaster movie: it looks far more likely to be a social satire with some truly, deeply odd character moments.

Who is in White Noise?

Adam Driver leads the cast as academic Jack Gladney alongside Babette, played by Oscar-nominated actress and filmmaker Greta Gerwig. The movie also stars Don Cheadle (Avengers: Endgame) as Professor Murray Siskind, Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim) as Winnie, and André Benjamin, better known as Outkast's Andre 3000, as Elliot.

What is the release date?

As is becoming more of a tradition for Netflix's bigger, highly anticipated movies, White Noise will have a limited theatrical release before dropping on the streaming platform. You can catch the film in select theaters on November 25, then watch it on Netflix from December 30.
