Aces of Trades: Lillie Williams' business has something for almost everybody

PICKERINGTON −Rags 2 Riches at 24 W. Columbus St. may have something for almost everybody.

"Rags 2 Riches is a cross between a thrift store and buying something new off the rack," owner Lillie Williams said.

Williams and her husband, Robert, previously owned a junk hauling business where they would accumulate a lot of new and used goods. They opened Rags 2 Riches in May 2023.

"We try to help families that don't have as much disposable income to buy all these expensive items," she said. "We try to get furniture, household goods, clothing, shoes and then we sell them at a super cut rate for people in the community."

The business also sells items like microwave ovens, televisions and refrigerators, among other things. Rags 2 Riches also has an online store at www.rags2richesohio.com to sell new items.

Williams, a Cleveland native, said business has gone well so far.

"It's fun," she said. "We get out into the community a lot and I think that's the biggest thing. We spend time trying to help develop the community."

Williams is a military veteran who spent 21 years in the U.S. Army and retired as a logistics officer.

"I traveled all over Africa, Korea, Germany," she said. "I've done multiple tours and I've done quite a few campaigns. I was medically retired after a head injury during a combat situation in Africa. It qualified me to become a disabled vet."

Williams is also a Pickerington Chamber of Commerce board member.

Away from work, Williams is training to run a marathon in October that runs in Michigan and into Canada.

Rags 2 Riches is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
