'Abbott Elementary' Star Quinta Brunson Keeps Her Husband a Mystery For a Good Reason

Abbott Elementary fans, the season 2 premiere means it's time to get reacquainted with your favorite TV teachers. When the ABC sitcom premiered in December 2021, viewers were introduced to writer and Emmy Award winner Quinta Brunson. While many started to discover her genius work, her husband Kevin Jay Anik continued cheering her on like he's done since the beginning.
Unlike most Hollywood couples, the start of Quinta and Kevin's relationship wasn't officially disclosed to the public on social media. Still, she later revealed big personal news when she posted a photo of an engagement ring on July 30, 2020. Understandably, because her followers never saw any pictures of Quinta with a romantic partner, it left many wondering who her future husband was.
"More good news," she wrote on Instagram.
While she didn't show Kevin's face in the surprise post, Abbott Elementary fans quickly swarmed to congratulate the couple on taking a big step in their relationship.
"Someone recognized a queen 😏," one fan commented on Instagram. "❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I am happy for you @quintab ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ congratulations!!!!!!" a different follower added. "Congrats you're going to be a great wifey 😍😍😍," one more replied.
Although Quinta was deliberate about not sharing romantic moments on social media, folks eventually learned that she got married when Showbiz Corner announced that she and Kevin had wed in a private ceremony on September 5, 2021. By December of that year, the couple had made their official debut while attending the premiere party for Abbott Elementary.
Since then, the ultra-private couple continues to support one another during big moments in their careers. While Kevin's lack of social media presence doesn't necessarily give fans a different insight into their relationship, he has been seen standing by his wife's side for her major events.
Back in June, he was photographed walking the red carpet with her at the Time 100 Gala. Most recently, the duo made an appearance during the 2022 Emmy Awards. In a heartwarming moment, Quinta shared her gratitude with Kevin in her acceptance speech when she won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.
"I need to thank my wonderful husband, because he's the most supportive man I've ever known," she said while onstage.
Regardless of whether Abbott Elementary fans see the couple together in real-life or on social media, Quinta feels lucky in the marriage department. For that reason, she plans on keeping her romance right where it is — out of the spotlight.
"[Kevin's] just the most supportive man in the world," she told Variety in September. "He’s a good person. That’s the reason I don’t talk about him a lot. I protect my home life very deeply. I do. And he doesn’t deserve what the public can do."
She continued: "I’m not sure I would’ve been able to do all this without a partner like that. I barely ever call him a husband. I call him a partner because that’s truly what he is."
