Aaron Rodgers Reacts To What He’s Seen From Tavon Austin
Earlier this week, the Green Bay Packers added free-agent receiver and return man Tavon Austin to the roster.
Star quarterback Aaron Rodgers immediately welcomed Austin to the team. During his weekly appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers gushed about Austin’s ability with the ball in his hands.
“I think the best thing you can do for any player is give him a role he can embrace,” Rodgers told Pat McAfee on Tuesday. “If we can find a role for Tavon, whether it’s returning or doing some fly-motion stuff and finding ways to get him the ball in space, I think it’ll be a great thing.”
He backed up this comments this week, when taking about how Austin fits into the Green Bay offense. He posited about what the former first round pick’s NFL career would have looked like if he was part of a more innovative offense.
Here’s what he had to say, via the Wisconsin State Journal:
“I think that had this offense really been going (at the start of his career), I think he really would have found a sticking spot for a long time, being a guy who can do so many things” Rodgers said. “Giving him fly sweeps and getting him in (play-) action stuff, getting him on the edge. It’s nice having him.”
Austin has bounced around the NFL in recent years, playing for his fourth different team in as many years.
He started as a first-round pick with the Rams before playing for the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers.
