Aaron Rodgers did not get traded this offseason, but if he had been, the NFC North quarterback likely would’ve ended up out West.

According to a report from the NFL Network, the Green Bay Packers superstar quarterback preferred the San Francisco 49ers more than every other team.

Rodgers, a California native, reportedly had the 49ers at the top of his trade destinations list. Ultimately, the Packers were able to convince Rodgers to stick around for another season.

However, Rodgers could still move on in 2022 or beyond. Perhaps the 49ers will come back into play this offseason.

From the report:

That the 49ers happen to be the opponent, is noteworthy. When Rodgers mulled an exit from Green Bay this offseason, amid frustration with the team’s front office among other reasons, San Francisco was a key figure.

Sources say that the 49ers were Rodgers’ top choice when it came to a new destination. And when the 49ers made their phone call to coach Matt LaFleur, it was done because they got word that Rodgers was more than into it.

The Packers and the 49ers are set to meet on Sunday night.

Kickoff is set for 8:20 p.m. E.T. The game will air on NBC.
