Aaron Rodgers, David Bakhtiari, Davante Adams, AJ Hawk among former Green Bay Packers at 2024 Kentucky Derby

The Kentucky Derby brings out celebrities every year who want to be up close to the spectacle at Churchill Downs and all the pageantry that it offers, large hats and all.

This includes Aaron Rodgers and his group of former Green Bay Packers — minus the extravagant hats.

Rodgers once again headlined a squad of ex-Packers players that convened to Louisville, Kentucky, over the weekend for the 150th Kentucky Derby to see Mystic Dan win the Run for the Roses.

Rodgers' closest friends in David Bakhtiari, Davante Adams, AJ Hawk and Matt Flynn, all of whom were drafted and spent significant time in Green Bay, joined him at the Derby. Jimmy Graham, who played for the Packers in 2018-19, was also part of the Derby crew as was one of Bakhtiari's brothers, Eric.

On Sunday, Rodgers shared a picture on social media of the 10-person group while wearing their Derby best.

"The Crew 2024," he wrote on Instagram with the photo.

Rodgers has organized a gathering with his friends to the Kentucky Derby for years, dating back to their time on the Packers.

But now as their careers have taken them elsewhere — some like Hawk and Flynn are retired — the trip serves as somewhat of a mini Packers reunion.

Former Packers part of celebrity guest list at the Barnstable Brown Derby Eve Gala

The group of former Packers also walked the red carpet for another big event last weekend ahead of the Kentucky Derby: the 35th annual Barnstable Brown Derby Eve Gala on Friday.

And while they weren't in Rodgers' Derby photo on Instagram, Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb, two former Packers wide receivers who joined Rodgers on the New York Jets last season, as well as former Green Bay offensive linemen Bryan Bulaga and Corey Linsley were on the guest list for that gala as well.

The invite-only event is held at the $1.2 million Bonnycastle home of Patricia Barnstable Brown in Louisville, Kentucky. It's an event that brings out a who's who of celebrities in the music industry, entertainment and professional sports circles.

According to the Courier Journal, the former Packers players received cheers as they got out of their vehicles for the gala.

Former active Green Bay Packers who attended the Kentucky Derby

After the Kentucky Derby, the preparations continue for the 2024 NFL season for some of those players.

Rodgers, who spent the first 19 years of his Hall of Fame career in Green Bay before being traded last offseason to the Jets, is looking for redemption after missing all but the first four plays of the 2023 season due to a torn Achilles.

Lazard is in Year 2 of his four-year contract with the Jets. He's hoping the return of Rodgers gives him a boost after a disappointing season. The 33-year-old Cobb is a free agent after an unproductive year in New York.

Bakhtiari is a free agent as well after the Packers released him in March. He continues to recover from major knee injuries.

Adams, still among the best wide receivers in the NFL, is in his third season with the Las Vegas Raiders. He spent the first eight years of his career in Green Bay.

Graham, 37, is a free agent after spending last season with the New Orleans Saints. He was out of football in 2022.
