In Sunday’s 24-14 Week 6 victory over the Chicago Bears, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers scampered into the endzone for his third touchdown of the day, icing the game late in the fourth quarter.

After the game-sealing TD, Rodgers had some choice words for the Bears fans behind the endzone.

The longtime Packers QB said something to the effect of, “I’ve owned you all my f——- life. I’ve owned you. I still own you.”

Obviously these comments didn’t sit too well with Bears fans. And while most people were entertained by his competitive spirit, Rodgers says he feels the pressure to apologize due to what he calls “woke cancel culture.”

“There is this culture that exists, that gets off I think on shrinking people, keeping them small, keeping them in a box, quieting them through cancelation or demeaning comments,” he said on his weekly appearance with The Pat McAfee Show. “I also exist outside of that in a different realm where I do feel confident in things I say and I do stand by what I do.

“I like to speak the truth and I’m not part of this woke cancel culture that gets off on trying to silence people all the time.”

Rodgers said his in-game comments were a “spur of the moment” reaction to the hate that was raining down on him from Bears fans in the front row. He added that he doesn’t regret his words at all.

The veteran quarterback noted that when he entered the league 17 years ago, trash talk like this was commonplace.

“Are we getting that soft as a society where we can’t have a back and forth now? … Somebody can pay for a ticket and say whatever the hell they want which they should be able to but the one time I say something back I’ve disrespected an entire city and organization,” Rodgers said.

Whether you like how Rodgers handled his touchdown celebration or not, there’s no questioning the validity of his trash talk. Through his NFL career, the Packers QB has amassed a 21-5 record against his NFC North rival.
