An armed 79-year-old Louisiana man was shot by police who had a warrant to check his house in connection with a child pornography investigation Tuesday, according to NOLA.com. That was just the start.

When officers arrived at the Metairie, Louisiana, home of James Millet III, his wife reportedly came to the door while her husband awaited police in a bedroom, where cops say he was holding a gun. A deputy shot Millet, who was said to be recovering from a shoulder injury in an area hospital Wednesday. No bond had been set.

NOLA reports that authorities booked Millet for alleged possession of pornography that amounted to 36 counts of sexual abuse on animals, seven counts involving juveniles and two counts related to materials involving a victim under the age of 13. Millet is also accused of aggravated assault on an officer.
