76ers Star Kelly Oubre Jr. Hospitalized After Hit and Run

Kelly Oubre Jr. #9 of the Philadelphia 76ers shoots over Jrue Holiday #4 of the Boston Celtics

Kelly Oubre Jr. is reportedly on the mend after he was hospitalized following a hit and run.

The shooting guard on the Philadelphia 76ers was struck by a vehicle in Center City, Philadelphia, on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 11 according to his team, which shared the news of the incident on Twitter later that same night.

He was said to be in stable condition as he was treated at a local hospital, and the team promised to share any updates about his condition as they became available.

"Please join us in sending our best to Kelly and his family as he recovers from the incident," they concluded.

The next afternoon, the team's reporter, Lauren Rosen, reported that Oubre Jr., 27, suffered a fractured rib when he was hit by the car, forcing him to sit out of the Nov. 12 game against Indiana. He'll be re-evaluated in about a week, according to Rosen.

TMZ reports that the driver who struck Oubre Jr. fled the scene and has yet to be identified, with law enforcement currently searching for any leads.

Members of his team, including president Daryl Morey, stopped by to visit him on Saturday night. During Sunday's game, many of them also showed support for their "brother," including Tyrese Maxey, who dedicated his 50-point career night to his injured teammate, and Tobias Harris, who called it "a devastating hit" for the whole team. “We can’t wait until he gets back with us. And in the meantime - all these games - we’re fighting for our brother,” he said.
