70-year-old pedestrian dies two days after being hit by a car Saturday in Fayetteville

A 70-year-old man died Monday after being struck by a vehicle last week, the Fayetteville Police Department said Wednesday.

James Alton Walton, 73, of Washington, D.C., was struck Saturday near South Eastern Boulevard and Bell Street by a Nissan Sentra driven by Delvin T. Dozer, according to the release. The accident happened about 10:30 p.m.

Walton was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and died two days later, the release said.

According to officials, Walton was wearing dark clothing and walking in the southbound lane when the Nissan struck him.
