At 67, Denise Austin Demonstrates ‘Low-Impact’ Workout With Daughter Katie in Video

What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than to get some family movement in? That’s what Denise Austin and her daughter Katie Austin encourage followers to do with their new mother-daughter workout series, which launched in honor of the holiday, Denise wrote on Instagram. Their inaugural video is a 20-minute, low-impact full-body workout that promises to tone and strengthen from head to toe.

In matching hot pink sets, the duo started the workout with a side-step and reach warm-up, adding twists, kicks, and bicep curls to turn up the heat. “Keep it healthy, keep it strong,” Denise exclaimed.

They covered every major muscle group, doing leg lifts, standing crunches, side bends, squats, arm circles, and more. And mid-workout, they took time to recognize how Katie has followed in her mom’s footsteps. The 30-year-old joked about stealing “so many” of Denise’s lines in her own fitness videos, including: “Thank you for joining me, you’re doing something for you today.”

“Well, Katie, you’ve been hearing my lines since you were a little girl, traveling with me for all those times. Everything must’ve really sunken in,” Denise responded with a laugh. Katie nodded, adding: “It’s very full circle, you guys.”

On Instagram, Katie shared a clip from their workout alongside a video of her on-set with Denise as a toddler. The blast from the past was super touching. In it, a young Denise said: “And here’s my little girl, join me! C’mon, Katie!”

Katie wrote a heartfelt caption, reminiscing on how fast time has passed. “Seems like just yesterday I was traveling and watching my mom film all her workouts... now I’m not only following in her footsteps, but we’re doing workouts together!!” she wrote.

In wrapping up their sweat sesh, Katie and Denise suggested that viewers share it with their loved ones. “Send it to your mom, send it to a loved one so you guys can do it virtually, together,” Katie said. “Because that’s really what working out is all about, bonding with one another and supporting each other.”
