A 60-year-old New Bedford shooting victim has died. Here's what we know.

NEW BEDFORD — The victim of a shooting early last week in New Bedford's West End has died from his injuries, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office announced.

According to a press release, the male victim — 60-year-old Ronald Sinclair, of New Bedford — was shot during an incident on Austin Street, near the crossing of County Street, on Monday, April 29, the release said, where officers responded around 2:30 p.m. for reports of a male gunshot victim.

Sinclair "was rushed to the hospital for treatment," the release said, but died days later on Friday, May 3.

"The alleged shooter, Christopher Smith, 38, of New Bedford, was initially arrested shortly after the shooting in the backyard of a home on Chestnut Street," the release reads.

According to the DA's office, Smith was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday, May 7, in New Bedford District Court on the new charge of murder. The case will be prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Charlie Schofield, the release said.
