6 Myrtle Beach area locations get slapped with low scores in recent restaurant inspections

Whether you’re heading out to do some grocery shopping, stopping for gas and a cold fountain beverage, or just going out for breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails.

You may want to take a minute look at the most recent inspection scores and see how your favorite’s scored.

All 177 facilities in the Myrtle Beach area received either routine or follow-up inspections in this week’s Myrtle Beach area restaurant inspections.

Six of these facilities did not score an “A” grade according to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control. Actually there were two with a “C” grade:

  1. El Super De Myrtle Beach, a Mexican grocery store located at 4977 Socastee Blvd., Myrtle Beach received a routine inspection on Feb. 7 and scored 69 percent “C” grade. A follow-up inspection was performed on Feb. 8 for the violations a 98 percent “A” grade was received.

  2. Key West Crazy, a restaurant and bar located at 4492 Waterfront Ave., Little River received a routine inspection on Feb. 8 and scored 80 percent “B” grade. A follow-up inspection is to be performed within 10 days.

  3. Piggly Wiggly #183, a grocery store located at 122 U.S. 17 N., Surfside Beach received a routine inspection of the Bakery and Deli on Feb. 7 and scored 83 percent “B” grade. A follow-up inspection is to be performed within 10 days.

  4. Scotchman #3225 Shell, a convenience store located at 4101 Postal Way, Myrtle Beach received a routine inspection on Feb. 8 and scored 75 percent “C” grade. A follow-up inspection is to be performed within 10 days.

  5. Surfside Jenny’s, a breakfast spot located at 1013 Glenn’s Bay Rd., Surfside Beach received a routine inspection on Feb. 7 and scored a 78 percent “B” grade. A follow-up inspection is to be performed within 10 days.

  6. Tavern in Surfside, a bar and restaurant located at 8739 U.S. 17 Bypass, S., Surfside Beach received a routine inspection on Feb. 8 and scored a 80 percent “B” grade. A follow-up inspection is to be performed within 10 days.

C | 77 & Below - The retail establishment earned less than 78 points. Food safety practices need significant improvement.

R | Indicates a Routine Inspection - Unannounced and conducted on a frequency determined by the facility’s Risk Category on a frequency of one to four times a year.

F | Indicates a Follow-Up Inspection - Conducted within ten days of a Routine Inspection that requires follow-up verification.
