1. Shop: YIELD Avilés Double Wall Candle, $38

“I’m a devout candle lover, thanks to my mom. She always had a Yankee Candle burning in our house, no matter the season. (I still stan that Sage and Citrus Yankee Candle scent!). But lately, I’ve been trying to shop small, and about a year ago I stumbled across YIELD’s candles, incense and fragrances at a local shop in my neighborhood. I immediately fell in love with the YIELD Avilés scent, which includes scent notes of jasmine, blood orange and white musk. The smell is inspired by the ‘tropical flora, narrow streets and historic architecture’ of St. Augustine, Florida, where the brand is headquartered. Best of all, the doubled-walled jar can easily be repurposed into a very trendy drinking glass. I now have a full set!” Brittany Nims, Managing Commerce Editor

2. Shop: Voluspa Santal Vanille Glass Jar Candle, $30

“Candles are sacred to me because they’re the first thing I turn to after a long, stressful day. I don’t like overwhelming scents in my house, but a nice, gentle fragrance instantly relaxes me. Voluspa has a santal Vanille scent that I absolutely love, and it’s moderately affordable. Don’t let the ‘vanilla’ fool you — I feel like a self-care baddie whenever it burns. It’s not regular, basic-girl vanilla. It’s a French bourbon vanilla scent, which naturally makes it sound a lot fancier.” — Jamé Jackson, Senior Beauty Editor

3. Shop: Fresh Cut Lilacs, $14.50

“Call me basic, but I love a good Bath & Body Works candle. They have so many scents that are great, but one of my favorites for spring is Fresh Cut Lilacs. I’m not big on having fresh flowers in my apartment (I hate watching them die), so this candle is perfect when I want the smell without the real thing.” — Jeanine Edwards, Commerce Director

4. Shop: Capri Blue Volcano Capiz Jar Candle, $34

“While some may think that the Capri Blue Volcano candle is overrated, it’s popular for a reason! It’s been my all-time favorite spring candle since I first smelled it at Anthropologie. It’s described as having notes of ‘tropical fruits, sugared oranges, lemons and limes,’ which makes perfect sense to me. When I first smelled it, it instantly reminded me of the cranberry ginger ale drink my mom used to make me in the summer. During the warmer months, I go through jars of this candle pretty quickly since I let it burn almost all day. Thankfully, Anthropologie offers a large size of the candle for fans like me.” — Julia Webb, Commerce Editor

5. Shop: Brooklinen Wake Candle, $31.50 (Orig. $35)

“I just finished burning through Brooklinen’s Wake candle. I usually light it in the mornings as a way to give my apartment a refresh and signal the start of the day. And I’m immediately buying another. It smells incredibly clean and fresh, with notes of ‘morning ocean tide,’ according to its product description. It’s also a clean-burning candle made with plant and mineral-based ingredients and an all-natural wick. Brooklinen makes a whole set of candles for burning at different times of day, so I’m considering going that route and getting the whole set.” — Ellie Conley, Commerce Editor

6. Shop: Forvr Mood Cuffing Season Scented Candle, $35-38

“Ever since my childhood years, my mom has made it a point to stress that one of the first indications of a well-kept home is a burning candle. Throughout my adult life, I’ve formed a relative obsession with scented candles. I usually prefer muskier scents with woodsier notes like teakwood and oak, but recently, as I’ve pledged to support more Black businesses, I’ve become a constant buyer of the Forvr Mood candle in the scent ‘Cuffing Season.’ It’s a lot lighter than I’m used to, with more citrusy and fresher notes, making it perfect for ushering in the spring season.” — Moriba Cummings, Commerce Editor
