5th annual Mega Adoption of pets event set for Sunday

Nov. 3—If you're ready to open your home and heart to a furry cat or dog, the 5th Mega Adoption Event at Stramler Park is the place to be on Sunday.

More than 40 organizations will be at 4003 Chester Ave. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. More than 100 shelter and rescue pets in need of adoption will be there, along with local vendors with pet care products.

"We've got a ton of vendors this year with pet related products, so we're encouraging the community to bring their own pets," Director of Kern County Animal Services Nick Cullen said in a statement. "The weather sounds like it's going to be wonderful, so even if you're not thinking about adopting a new family pet it'll be a blast. If you have been thinking about adding a pet to your family, well then it's the biggest pet adoption event in Kern County all year!"

Among Sunday's participants are: Kern County Animal Services, S.O.S Dog Rescue, Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue, City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center, City of Shafter Animal Control, Ocean Ray Rescue, Bakersfield Pawsitive Change, Haven For Mythical Creatures, Bakersfield Police Department K9, H.A.L.T. Rescue, Foster Tails, Best Friends Animal Society, Kern County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue, The Friends of the Kern County Animal Shelters Foundation, Central California Animal Disaster Team, and Lucky's Crew Animal Rescue.
