A swath of Hollywood’s best attended the third annual Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on Sunday, and Salma Hayek may have shined the brightest. The Magic Mike’s Last Dance star wore a floor-length white gown with a mini train and plunging neckline that showed off her toned arms.

The dress was clearly the star of the show; Hayek opted for minimal accessories: She wore a thin headband atop her long, loose waves and a few statement rings on her fingers. To tote the essentials, she carried an iridescent clutch with a buckle clasp.

The fundraiser specifically recognized Meryl Streep, Michael B. Jordan, Oprah Winfrey, and Sofia Coppola for their contributions to cinema, per Deadline. Other stars in attendance included Demi Moore, Eva Longoria, and Natalie Portman.

Hayek’s simple but elegant ensemble was understated compared to other red carpet looks she’s rocked this year, like the strappy rose gold form-fitting gown she wore to the LACMA Art+Film Gala, the naked dress that shut down the Magic Mike’s Last Dance premiere, and the pleather, lace, and tulle crimson ballgown in which she attended the Met Gala.

You might wonder how Hayek, 57, stays in shape for all of her big fashion moments (not to mention, her popular swimsuit Instagrams). It may come as a surprise that she actually doesn’t love working out—at least in a regimented way. Instead, she prefers more organic, innate movement natural to activities like dancing, swimming, and practicing yoga.

In July, to celebrate reaching the milestone of 25 million (!!) Instagram followers, the actress shared her version of a “swimsuit workout.” In the clip, she swims laps and does arm circles and leg lifts, all at least halfway underwater.

“Seeing as you all like my swimsuit pictures the most 👙, here’s a swimsuit workout for you all,” the captioned the video. “I hate exercising—but I love to celebrate good moments dancing in the water. I am genuinely moved and grateful for all your love and support.”

Hayek has elaborated on her disdain for structured workouts in the past. “Some people have the discipline to exercise in the morning, and I didn’t develop that,” she told People in 2020. She added that her work schedule doesn’t always allow her to pencil in a full gym session. “I don’t have time to exercise. I am working,” she said. “I’ve had some 20-hour days.”

Instead, she opts for the aforementioned natural movements and practices “restorative yoga,” which has taught her to activate her muscles all day, everyday, she told People.

“I work with a woman in London who taught me how to hold my body in a way where the muscles are activated all day long. So even when you brush your teeth, you’re working the muscles,” Hayek claimed.“If you’re aware of your body, you’d be surprised by the effect it can have.”
