53 Times Celebrities Wore Naked Dresses on the Red Carpet
Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Cher and Kendall Jenner round out the list of stars who have worn all-sheer, barely-there looks on the red carpet over the years
Some stars aren't exactly camera-shy when showing some skin ... or all of it.
Barely-there dresses have been raising eyebrows and generating scandalous headlines since the '60s. However, the term "naked dress" didn't come into the fashion lexicon until a 1998 episode of Sex and the City, where Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) rocked a beige DKNY slip for her first date with Big (Chris Noth).
Whether it's about feeling confident in their bodies, making a political statement or turning heads, celebrities have fully embraced this trend at various events — opting for see-through fabrics, dramatic cutaways, midriff-baring silhouettes, plunging necklines and thigh-high slits.
From Cher's game-changing dress at the 1974 Met Gala to Jennifer Lopez's iconic Versace dress, take a peek at some of the sexiest, most risqué naked dresses worn on the red carpet.
