5 things fans may not know about Texas Rangers pitcher Max Scherzer, including his ‘sexy eye’

Max Scherzer is one of the Texas Rangers’ newest additions and one of the MLB’s best players but here are five things fans might not know about the Rangers ace.

1. Scherzer has heterochromia iridum, a condition that causes his eyes to be two different colors. Scherzer has one blue eye and one brown eye. Scherzer has jokingly referred to his blue eye as his “sexy eye” in past interviews.

2. One of Scherzer’s off-the-field passions is free diving with sharks. Scherzer has multiple videos on his Twitter of him interacting with and swimming with sharks in Mexico and the South Pacific.

3. Scherzer threw a no-hitter and a one-hitter in June of 2015 and rewarded his catchers for their performances. Scherzer, then a member of the Washington Nationals, gave Wilson Ramos and Jose Lobaton a Humbolt watch which can cost anywhere from $2,000-$80,000.

4. Scherzer’s favorite action movie is a tie between “Swordfish” and “Gladiator,” while his favorite comedy is “Happy Gilmore.”

5. Scherzer is a big lover of animals, he and his wife Erica have paid adoption fees for any dogs over 30 pounds for a week in 2021 and 2022. Scherzer and his wife have multiple pets of their own, two of which have multi-colored eyes like Scherzer.
