5 softball games that include 4 playoff teams rained out, and pushed to Saturday

The four games that included the five Rockford-area softball teams that are still alive in the IHSA postseason were postponed on Friday night due to intense storms that rolled through much of the region.

They were all rescheduled to different times on Saturday to accomodate for several area high school graduations.

More softball: Cami Carter and North Boone stroll into softball program's first sectional championship

So they will all try again this weekend.

And the Class 1A and 2A teams are down to the sweet 16.

Dakota, trying to win its first sectional title since 2017, is set to take on East Dubuque in the Class 1A sectional, but will now do that at 11 a.m. Saturday. North Boone, with star Cami Carter usually on the bump, had its 2A Marengo Sectional final moved from Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday.

While none are left in 3A, the three teams that are still kicking in 4A are just trying to get their regional finals finished. Hononegah was slated to take on Harlem in the 4A Harlem Regional final on Friday, but that game will now take place at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Harlem Community Center to accomodate for graduations.

Auburn was scheduled for Friday night as well, but the Knights will now take on the hosts in the 4A Hampshire Regional final at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Class 2A soccer game postponed, too

The girls soccer Class 2A Belvidere Sectional final between Boylan and Burlington Central was also postponed on Friday night, and that game will be made up at 3 p.m. Saturday.
