What $450K will get you in Knox County: A stone cottage, historic mansion and other homes you can buy at the median price
Everyone likes looking at dream houses, wondering of they might be able to afford that Craftsman bungalow or sleek condo one day.
Witness the enduring popularity of features like Country Living magazine's monthly roundup of, say, farmhouses with porches. Or the New York Times' "What You Get" feature, which takes the tack of picking an arbitrary amount and showing you what that will buy you in different real estate markets. Perhaps due to the inflated cost of living for most of its readers, those typically skew high: above $1 million for many recent roundups.
Inspired, Knox News decided to try its hand at picking out eight homes on the market for sale at around the current median home price. According to Realtor, com, the median listing price of a home in Knox County in April was $449,000.
