4 men found with a cannon, bowling ball and drugs after explosion reports in N.J.: cops

Four men were arrested in New Jersey after police discovered them with a cannon, a bowling ball and drugs, according to NJ.com.

Vineland police and Atlantic City Bomb Squad responded around 9:15 p.m. on Saturday after explosions were reported in a field in Vineland.

As they arrived at the scene, a truck with trailer carrying what looked like a cannon and fireworks was spotted driving through a field. Officers stopped the truck which had four men inside. In the bed of the truck, officers found mortar tubes for fireworks and a bowling ball with a rope attached to it.

Police also found a box inside the truck with black powder and other “explosive chemicals.”

The driver, Daniel R. Galloway, 43, volunteered a search of the truck which turned up marijuana as well as two hand-rolled blunts and two glass pipes, which Galloway claimed ownership of, along with the cannon.

Dominick Cappellari, 18, told officers the fireworks and black powder were his.

A backpack in the truck contained a metal grinder, three plastic bags filled with suspected marijuana, another glass pipe, rolling papers and three bottles containing liquid labeled “750 MG THC.”

No one claimed ownership of the backpack resulting on all four men in the truck, Galloway, Cappellari, Jonathan L. Holland, 28, and Anthony J. Polo, 18, being arrested for possession.

Atlantic City Bomb Squad took possession of the fireworks while Vineland police took the drugs and cannon. Investigators have so far been unable to determine whether the cannon was fired and believe the reported explosions were from the fireworks.
