36 firearms, fentanyl seized during arrest of convicted felon in Aumsville, police say

A convicted felon was arrested on multiple charges after police say they seized 36 firearms, suspected fentanyl pills and a stolen vehicle while serving a search warrant at his Aumsville home Tuesday morning.

The 42-year-old man was arrested without incident in the 11000 block of Silver Falls Highway SE. Salem Police Felony Crimes Unit detectives served a search warrant at the location with the assistance of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team.

Police said they found 36 firearms of varying types, including rifles, shotguns and handguns, as well as body armor and ammunition. About 250 pills suspected to be fentanyl and a stolen vehicle were also located on the property, police said.

The man was taken at the Marion County Jail and was set to be arraigned at the Marion County Circuit Court Annex on Wednesday on charges of illegal possession of a firearm by a felon, prohibited possession of a short-barreled shotgun, possession of a stolen vehicle and illegal possession of body armor by a felon.

According to court records, the man had multiple felony and misdemeanor convictions including theft, child neglect, endangering the welfare of a child and heroin possession.
