The 3 SC drive-in movie theaters to visit this fall. Here’s how to find them

A couple walking back from the concessions stand is illuminated by the headlights of a car looking to park during the opening trailers to one of the movies shown at the Hwy 21 Drive-In on Sunday, October 2, 2016, in Beaufort.

Are you looking for a new fall activity to try, or missing the nostalgia of an outdoor movie theater?

Drive-in theaters seem to be a passing memory in many states, with some of the newer generations having never been to an outdoor movie. Whether in the Lowcountry, Midlands or Upstate, each has a drive-in theater for you.

Here are three drive-in theaters scattered around the Palmetto State.

Hwy 21 Drive-In Theater

Hwy 21 Drive-In Theater is an outdoor movie theater in Beaufort County that has been open since 1978. With three big screens to choose from, Hwy 21 Drive-In Theater offers a comforting “throwback feel” for guests as they watch any of the showings available Thursday through Sunday year-round. Attendees may also visit the recent addition of a weekend flea market at the location.

Double features are shown at the establishment nightly, with admission covering both movies on-screen. Guests are recommended to arrive early.

Now playing on Screen 1 are the movies “Smile” at 8 p.m. and “Orphan: First Kill” at 10 p.m. Screen Two is featuring “Lyle, Lyle Crocodile” at 8 p.m. and “Hotel Transylvania” at 10 p.m. Lastly, Screen 3 is showing Halloween at 8 p.m. and Halloween Kills at 10 p.m.

This Lowcountry drive-in theater can be found in Beaufort at 55 Parker Drive, and tickets can be purchased online under each of the selected screens at https://hwy21drivein.com/now-playing/.

Monetta Drive In Theater

Monetta Drive In Theater, also called “The Big Mo,” is located in Aiken and Saluda Counties in Monetta.
