Teen killed, 2 injured in shooting at large south Fort Worth after-prom party early Sunday

A 19-year-old was killed and two other people were injured when shots were fired at an after-prom party in south Fort Worth early Sunday, according to police.

Police were called to the 3900 block of Singleleaf Lane in Fort Worth just before 1 a.m., according to a news release. Around 1:15 a.m., two victims with gunshot wounds arrived at John Peter Smith Hospital in private vehicles. They were in stable condition, but a third victim who was taken to Harris Southwest Hospital around 2:15 a.m. was in critical condition.

The third victim was transported to JPS via CareFlite after showing up at the first hospital, according to police. He died Sunday afternoon in the intensive care unit at JPS from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as 19-year-old Daniel Olalde Moreno, of Fort Worth.

All three of the victims were at a party at a house on Singleleaf Lane, police said. The woman who owns the home told reporters the event was a senior prom afterparty for her son, who attends Arlington Heights High School, but that hundreds of uninvited people showed up. Shots were reportedly fired after a fight broke out related to a dice game.

The mother, who was not home at the time, told WFAA-TV that someone shared their address on social media, which resulted in people the family didn’t know showing up at the party. She said members of that group were involved in the fight and shooting.

Dozens of gunshots could be heard on a neighbor’s security video reviewed by WFAA.
