This $3.37 million Bellingham home is a birder’s paradise
If you’re a birder in the market to buy, a 7,000-square-foot home for sale in north Bellingham could be the perfect fit.
“There are all of these birds that come to the house, including pigeons and doves,” said property listing agent Alex Thomas in a telephone interview with The Bellingham Herald. “It’s pretty cool.”
The current owner of the home used to own falcons and built a roost on the property. Birds can be seen flocking to the roost and spending time in it, Thomas told The Herald.
The $3.37 million home at 1481 Island View Drive sits on just shy of an acre of land above the mouth of the Nooksack River and Bellingham Bay.
The home features views of the San Juan Islands and direct, private access to the water.
“So not only do you have marine life, but you have this bird habitat,” Thomas said. “All the squirrels come around, too.”

The median sale price of homes in Bellingham in November 2022 was $598,000, according to the real estate company Redfin. That price has grown year over year, with the median sale price of homes in Bellingham in November 2017 being about $350,000.
