A $298 steak and Tulum vibes: New rooftop bar and restaurant now open in Wynwood

Miami loves its views from the rooftops — and there’s a new place to find one in Wynwood.

The product of owner Matthew Rosenberg’s architecture firm M-Rad, Fabel Miami is now open atop Wynwood Jungle, a retail and restaurant complex on Northwest 23rd Street. The open-air restaurant and bar gives off Tulum vibes (as outdoor bars do these days in Wynwood) and offers an example of the sort of high-energy dining that turns restaurants into nightclubs.

Yes. It’s a clubstaurant, one that follows leads from Mykonos to St. Tropez to Ibiza.

The venue is 10,000 square feet, with seating for 254, including a 22-seat travertine stone U-shaped bar and three levels of terraced seating around the DJ booth, because late-night fun is every bit as important as the food.

Chef Ian Fleischmann helms the kitchen. His menu skews Mediterranean, with shared dips like hummus, muhammara (a spicy dip with walnuts and red peppers) and labneh, plus larger shared plates like the 44-ounce dry-aged Porterhouse, whole roasted heritage chicken and coriander salt-crusted dorade (a Mediterranean fish) with Kaffir lime and lemongrass.

This is not dining for the weak of wallet: the Porterhouse costs $298, while the whole chicken is $98. The dorade will run you $112, while cauliflower tagine is $48. The dips are $18 apiece.

Matthew Rosenberg, owner of Fabel Miami and principal of M-Rad, said the venue fits perfectly in Miami.

“We are thrilled to be bringing our love of travel, cuisine, music, and culture to the heart of Wynwood,” he said. “From the moment they check in to the last dance, our guests are taken on a journey that taps into all five senses, allowing them to experience their own enchanted fairy tales and celebrate the energy Miami is known for.”

Rooftop bars gained popularity in Miami in 2022. Earlier this year, Rosa Sky opened on the 22nd floor the AC Hotel by Marriott and Element by Westin, while Lebanese restaurant Amal in Coconut Grove opened its rooftop bar Level this fall.

The newly renovated and remodeled Mayfair House Hotel & Garden also opened its rooftop restaurant and bar SipSip in September, while formerly private rooftop spot La Terraza, atop Fiola in Coral Gables, opened to non-members. In early 2023, E11even nightclub in downtown Miami plans to open Giselle, a rooftop restaurant and lounge.
