28-year-old man found unresponsive in Springfield early Wednesday; police investigating

SPRINGFIELD — The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help as it investigates the death of a 28-year-old Pennfield Township man that law enforcement officials are calling suspicious.

Deputies responded to Brookside Apartments in Springfield at 12:18 a.m. Wednesday after bystanders found the 28-year-old victim unresponsive in his vehicle. A bystander called 911 and began CPR, police said.

"We do not believe that there is any threat to the community or general public. The CCSO Detective Bureau and MEI are continuing in the investigation."

The Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the Springfield Fire Department, LifeCare Ambulance and the Battle Creek Police Department.
