2024's first Seacoast high school Athletes of the Week poll is ready for your vote

Welcome to the second installment of the Seacoast high school Athletes of the Week for the 2023-24 winter season, presented by York County Community College.

This week, and in weeks to come, you can vote for a girls athlete of the week and a boys athlete of the week,

This week's poll is for outstanding athletic accomplishments during the week of Dec. 25-31.

How do I cast my vote?

Voting can be completed through the two ballots listed below. Voting closes midnight Thursday, Jan. 4.

How do we learn who wins?

Winners will be announced in a story published on Friday, Jan. 5. at seacoastonline.com and fosters.com.

May I nominate for future ballots?

Yes. Nominate a Seacoast high school athlete by sending an email to sports@seacoastonline.com. Feel free to send us a photo of the athlete, too.

BOYS ATHLETE OF WEEK NOMINEES

Brad Wentworth, Marshwood, hockey

Marshwood's Brad Wentworth (13) crashes the net for one of his two goals despite the efforts of Oyster River goalie Cole Harwood (33) and Domenic DeRosa during Saturday night's Heuchling & Swift Memorial Classic at the Whittemore Center.

Wentworth scored two goals, including the game-winner in the KnightHawks' 3-1 victory over Oyster River in Saturday night's Heuchling & Swift Memorial Classic third-place game.

Oliver Duffy, Winnacunnet, track and field

Duffy placed second in the pentathlon at this past weekend's USM New Year's Invitational, which featured more than 1,400 athletes. Duffy's 3,175 points qualified him for the New Balance Indoor Nationals provisional standard.

Luke Douris, York, hockey

Douris recorded a hat trick as his three goals led the Wildcats to a 6-1 win over Cape Elizabeth, in a Class B South win on Thursday.

Nik Greco, Exeter, basketball

Greco scored a game-high 25 points as the Blue Hawks defeated Bow, 84-60, in last Wednesday's annual Queen City Invitational Basketball Tournament.

Ethan Brewer, Oyster River, basketball

Brewer scored 12 points, grabbed five rebounds and came up with four steals in the Bobcats' 51-28 win over Newmarket last Tuesday.

GIRLS ATHLETE OF WEEK NOMINEES

Lily Jenkins, Portsmouth, track and field

Portsmouth High School senior Lily Jenkins recently signed her letter of commitment to run track and field for Lafayette College. Jenkins is joined by her parents, xx and xx.

Jenkins' first-place finish in the 400 meters (62.29 seconds) was one of her three top-three finishes in Saturday's New Year's Invitational at the University of Southern Maine. Jenkins also placed second in the 200 (26.64) and third in the 55 (7.52).

Meagan Uraskevich, Spaulding, basketball

Uraskevich led the Red Raiders with nine points and pulled down seven rebounds as Spaulding defeated Newmarket, 29-23, in last Thursday's consolation game at the Oyster River Holiday Classic.

Caitlyn Koutalidis, Winnacunnet, basketball

Koutalidis scored 13 points for the Warriors in a narrow two point loss, 36-34, to Keene in last week's Oyster River Holiday Classic.

Vivian O'Quinn, Oyster River, basketball

O'Quinn scored a team-high 15 points to help lead the Bobcats to a 68-35 win over Kearsarge in last Wednesday's Bobcat Holiday Classic.

Sadie Nadeau, Spaulding, wrestling

Nadeau finished third overall in the girls 165-pound weight class for Spaulding at the Noble Invitational last Thursday.
