2024 Volkswagen ID.4 Updates Detailed, Including Prices and Range
While the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 doesn't look any different than before, it receives a few updates that make it a slightly more attractive proposition within the electric SUV segment. We already knew about the more powerful electric motors now found in versions with the larger battery pack, but now we have more details including prices for the 2024 lineup, range numbers, and photos of the U.S.-spec car. Prices now start at $41,160 for the Standard model with the 58.0-kWh battery, while the ID.4 Pro with the 77.0-kWh battery pack now starts at $46,300.
The base ID.4 Standard has the same 201-horsepower rear electric motor as before, and it sources power from a 58.0-kWh battery pack. This provides a range of 206 miles. The base price is up by $870 compared with last year, and the better-equipped S model is up by $990 to $46,280.
The ID.4 Pro models, which have a larger 77.0-kWh battery pack, are the beneficiaries of the new, more powerful electric motors. Single-motor rear-wheel-drive models now have 282 horsepower, while dual-motor all-wheel-drive models have 335 horsepower.
Prices are up by between $1010 and $1860 compared with last year's ID.4, with the ID.4 Pro now starting at $46,300 and the top ID.4 Pro S Plus starting at $54,600. The all-wheel-drive powertrain is a $3880 upgrade.
Range estimates improve to 291 miles for the RWD version and 263 miles for the AWD version.
VW has made a few changes to the ID.4's interior. The gear shifter is now a stalk instead of a rocker switch, and the center console and armrests are slightly different than before. The steering wheel controls are revised.
Base models still have a 12.0-inch screen, but versions with the bigger battery gain a larger 12.9-inch touchscreen. This screen also now has backlit touch-sensitive sliders to operate the climate control, and VW says it has changed around some of the menus within the screen to make them more intuitive.
Pictured here is the new 20-inch wheel design for the ID.4 Pro with all-wheel drive, and the Pro S Plus trim level also gets a new 21-inch wheel for 2024.
