2024 NFL Draft rumors: Deebo Samuel trade latest, potential Day 2 trade
Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft featured multiple trades and saw many records, including quarterbacks taken in the top 12 (six) and the number of offensive players taken in the first round (23).
Day 2 of the draft is just hours away and more rumors are amping up ahead of Round 2 and Round 3 tonight from Detroit. Here's the latest from NFL reporters across the league:
2024 NFL Draft rumors: 49ers "more likely" to deal WR Deebo Samuel
One of the biggest rumors leading up to the NFL Draft was the future of San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. A second-team All-Pro in 2023, Aiyuk is yet to sign an extension with the franchise and has been a potential trade target for many teams.
No deal materialized for Aiyuk on Thursday night. But, after the 49ers drafted Florida wide receiver Ricky Pearsall at No. 31 overall, rumors are amping up that fellow 49ers wideout Deebo Samuel could be the more likely piece to move. This is backed up by conversations with personnel from other teams, according to San Francisco Chronicle columnist and longtime NFL reporter Mike Silver.
Based on my conversations with other teams, the 49ers are now more likely to deal Deebo Samuel than they are Brandon Aiyuk. Stay tuned.

Samuel is less than two years removed from signing a three-year extension with the 49ers. Since that signing, Aiyuk has emerged as a top wideout on the team and led the 49ers in receptions (75) and yards (1,342) in 2023.
Silver followed that statement by arguing it "seems awkward" if the 49ers paid Aiyuk and retained Samuel this fall.
Play this out: 49ers don't trade Deebo. They pay Aiyuk. Deebo then has a lame-duck season in which watches his successor, and the incumbent receiver they chose over him, be focal points of the offense. Seems awkward. I expect a trade.

Few teams have been named in trade interest for either Aiyuk or Samuel aside from the New England Patriots. NBC Sports Boston's Patriots insider Tom Curran reported New England is interested in Aiyuk.
2024 NFL Draft rumors: Bills hearing offers for No. 33 pick
Buffalo traded down twice Thursday night. First, the Bills went from No. 28 overall to No. 32 after a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs. Later on, the Bills traded down with the Carolina Panthers to move from No. 32 to No. 33.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, teams are contacting Buffalo looking for another trade.
The #Bills now hold the 33rd pick, and there are a few players they really like who are under consideration. However, they've already received calls from teams considering trading up.
Last night, BUF moved up 38 spots in the later rounds with their first trade, 59 spots with…— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 26, 2024
The Bills now hold 10 total draft picks, second-most in the league, including three on Day 2: No. 33 overall (Round 2), No. 60 (Round 2), and No. 95 (Round 3).
