The Sierra EV comes with a new maximum range estimate of 440 miles. That marks a 10 percent increase over GMC's previous 400-mile projections. Other statistics have been updated as well with GMC increasing the Sierra EV's maximum tow rating to 10,000 pounds and the maximum payload to 1450 pounds—increases of 500 pounds and 150 pounds respectively.

Despite the improved statistics, GMC has lowered the Sierra EV's initial starting price. Carrying a $99,495 price, the fully loaded Denali Edition 1 will be the first Sierra EV to arrive this summer. Lofty as that price may be, that figure is actually $9200 lower than GMC's initial pricing estimate.

The automaker also confirmed a new feature for the Sierra EV. While the Sierra shares a lot of its DNA with the equally utilitarian Chevrolet-badged Silverado EV, it also draws some silliness from the GMC Hummer EV in the form of the "CrabWalk." That's because GMC equipped the Sierra EV with four-wheel steering, allowing the rear wheels to match the steering angle of the front wheels at low speeds, thus moving the truck diagonally.
