Wrestlers of the Year

Caleb Cunningham, Crestview

The Division III Heavyweight State Champion closed his season at 43-3 with 34 pins and a career 110-30 mark with 62 pins. He is a three-time Firelands Conference champion and the FC upper weight Most Valuable Player, adding district and state crowns, and championships at the J.C. Gorman and Lima Central Catholic tournaments. He went 8-0 at the Jesse Campbell Memorial Duals, runner-up at the Kenston Invitational and went 2-2 at the Ironman.

Brock Durbin, Mapleton

The senior Mountie was a state runner-up this season for the second time and was a four-time state placer. He finished the year at 46-2 with 12 pins, also winning Firelands Conference, sectional and district crowns.

Coach of the Year

Tom Bauer, Ashland

In his first year as coach, Bauer led Ashland to winning a sectional crown, sending 10 wrestlers to the Perrysburg district. The Arrows also captured the Ohio Cardinal Conference this season with 271.5 points, far ahead of runner-up Mount Vernon (237). Bauer was able to raise the level of wrestling to a team that had a good mix of veterans and youth.
