With Big Blue Madness now just a little more than a week away, the University of Kentucky men’s basketball schedule for the 2022-23 season is finally complete.

UK announced its slate for the upcoming campaign Tuesday, revealing four new regular-season matchups for the Wildcats, as well as the team’s two exhibition opponents.

The completion of the Cats’ schedule made next month’s Kentucky-Gonzaga matchup official.

Coaches John Calipari and Mark Few first announced the game on Aug. 2, during UK’s open practice at Rupp Arena to raise money for flood relief in Eastern Kentucky. It took more than two months for the matchup to be finalized, but the two programs will indeed play Nov. 20, with a 7:30 p.m. tip time on ESPN.

The game will take place in the Spokane Arena, an off-campus facility with a capacity of more than 12,000 people for basketball games. The Zags are projected to be ranked first or second in the preseason polls, while Kentucky is a consensus top-five team heading into the season.

Gonzaga is expected to play in Lexington during the 2023-24 season.

UK’s multi-team event (MTE) for the 2022-23 campaign was also announced Tuesday, with the Cats scheduled to play Duquesne (Nov. 11), South Carolina State (Nov. 17) and North Florida (Nov. 23).

All three games will be played in Rupp Arena, and this season’s MTE will be named the Tribute Classic.

The Wildcats will also play home exhibition games against Missouri Western (Oct. 30) and Kentucky State (Nov. 3).

Former UK basketball manager Will Martin is the head coach at Missouri Western, and his assistant coaches include former Kentucky players Jon Hood and Perry Stevenson.

Kentucky State is coming off a 9-15 season in 2021-22, and its roster is expected to include freshman Cordell Livingston, the brother of Kentucky newcomer Chris Livingston.

The remainder of the Wildcats’ 2022-23 schedule was already known — starting with the season opener Nov. 7 against Howard — and it’s a slate that will be heavy on marquee matchups.

UK has five non-conference games against teams in the CBS Sports’ Top 25 preseason rankings: No. 25 Michigan State (Nov. 15 in Indianapolis), No. 1 Gonzaga (Nov. 20 in Spokane), No. 19 Michigan (Dec. 4 in London), No. 10 UCLA (Dec. 17 in New York), and No. 8 Kansas (Jan. 28 in Lexington).

The Wildcats also get Louisville — in its first season under new coach Kenny Payne — at home this season. That game will be played Dec. 31 in Rupp Arena.

The Southeastern Conference schedule, which was announced in full last month, begins for Kentucky on Dec. 28 at Missouri. The Cats will have big-time SEC home games this season against Texas A&M (Jan. 21), Arkansas (Feb. 7), Tennessee (Feb. 18) and Auburn (Feb. 25).

The regular season concludes with a March 4 trip to Arkansas, the popular choice to be Kentucky’s top competition in the the league.

The 2023 SEC Tournament will be played March 8-12 in Nashville, and ticket information for that event is scheduled to be released Dec. 1. Selection Sunday will be March 12, one of the NCAA Tournament regional sites this season is the Yum Center in Louisville, and the Final Four is set for April 1 and 3 in Houston.

Kentucky, which will be led by reigning national player of the year Oscar Tshiebwe, is projected by ESPN as a No. 1 seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Before the games begin, UK will host Big Blue Madness in Rupp Arena on Oct. 14 and travel to Pikeville for the Blue-White Game on Oct. 22.

The intrasquad scrimmage will be played in the Appalachian Wireless Arena, with proceeds from the event going toward the continued fundraising efforts for Eastern Kentucky flood relief.
