How to make your own Shake Shack burger at home

Updated

Test your grilling skills and wow your friends (over Zoom of course) by making your own Shake Shack ShackBurger at home.

Shake Shack partnered with Pat LaFrieda, the chain’s meat provider, to create a DIY kit. Each pack comes with eight hormone and antibiotic-free Angus beef burger patties, eight American cheese slices, the top-secret ShackSauce and potato rolls. All you have to do is buy lettuce and tomato to top it all off.

The meat is packaged together and vacuum-sealed, so when you’re ready to cook, separate the meat into individual rounds — roughly the size of a golf ball.

Place each piece on a hot skillet or pan and sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper on top, before flattening the ball with a spatula. Once flattened, add another sprinkle of salt and pepper and then flip when the bottom is caramelized.

After flipping, toss a slice of cheese on top and cook to your preference.

For the buns, brush the insides with melted butter and place the buttered side down on a griddle to toast.

Place a patty on the bottom bun and spoon the secret sauce onto the top one. Add any toppings you want and then put it all together.
