Balenciaga dropped an eye mask — here's less expensive dupes
Balenciaga, the second most-searched fashion brand right now, has recently dipped its toe into accessories for consumers, and its newest offerings are the true definition of luxury.
Launched May 5 on SSENSE, the brand’s Black Silk Eye Mask and Travel Pillow are both wrapped in black silk with “Balenciaga” embossed in white lettering on the front.

The eye mask, which retails for $175, features an elasticized strap and ruffle trimming around the edges. Yes, the product is a major splurge on the standard eye mask, but opulence certainly comes with a grand price tag!

The travel pillow — which will be great for long flights once we’re out of quarantine — similarly has a ruffle trim and the logo plastered on the front. The pillow is a bit expensive, or a lot expensive, depending on what your bank account is looking like. However, can you truly put a price on extravagance?
Many people do not know that Balenciaga — before it was known for its chunky sneakers and streetwear vibes — was actually a couture brand. In 2020, it was announced that the brand would return to presenting couture collections, after 50 years since its last show. Even though 2020 did not go as planned for anyone, the sentiment holds true: Balenciaga’s foundation is in luxury.
With more people searching for ways to pamper themselves at home, whether that’s a spa-like experience or cozying up in a chic pajama set, it makes sense that the brand would give its consumers something that hits a bit closer to home.
However, if you’re strapped for cash and are looking for a Balenciaga-without-the-price-point buy, here are a few of our favorite dupes.
