Amazon's extensive list of in-house products has garnered a cult following over the years. One of the retailer's most top-rated and reviewed electronic offerings is the Echo Show line with the fifth-generation release amassing over 96,000 ratings.

While this device, and many like it, can retail for upwards of $90 — with competitive products like the Facebook Portal Mini retailing for $80 on a good day — this can be financially out of reach for many. Luckily, the Amazon Echo 5 recently took a price cut by $40, bringing its total sale price down to just $50.

Featuring a compact 5.5-inch display with Amazon's virtual assistant Alexa already built in, this device is by far one of the most popular and widely purchased smart gadgets on the market.

The product's description outlines the sleekly-designed piece of tech allows users to "voice or video call friends and family with compatible Echo devices, Alexa app or Skype."

Aside from its video calling and chatting capabilities, this device can also serve as a streaming hub, allowing users to watch movies, news and TV shows right from its screen. It also doubles as an output for other streaming methods including music, radio and audiobooks.

Another feature that seems to be a customer favorite is the Echo's ability to turn any living space into a "smart home", thanks to its Ring compatibility. What this means is the device can be connected to compatible smart home devices like Ring doorbells and light bulbs, allowing users to see who's at their front doors, or turn the lights on from just about anywhere in their homes.

For added privacy and convenience, the Echo Show 5, much like the Facebook Portal Mini, also has a built-in switch that allows users to easily cover the camera hole.

Among the laundry list of additional features this multi-functional gadget boasts are ambient sunrise, its ability to teach users new skills with Alexa, alarm and timer integrations and its easy three-step setup.

To get the device up and running, simply plug the Echo Show 5 into a wall outlet, connect to the Internet and ask Alexa whatever you'd like to know or do.

With over 30,000 five-star ratings on Amazon, the Echo Show 5 is one of the most highly-reviewed releases from the brand's device lineup. One reviewer outlined that the easy-to-use touchscreen makes it a "real winner" in their eyes.

"Everything is well done, for the price, and, again, gets easier to use each iteration," the shopper wrote. "For me, the price is great. Everything works. Highly recommended."

Several other shoppers have dubbed this their "favorite Echo device" in the entire lineup, with one even going a step further to add that it's the "best darn product for the home."

However, one feature that may be considered a setback is the Amazon Echo Show 5 can only video call other Echo products or devices that are integrated with Alexa or Skype. While this may be considered a deal-breaker for some, few reviewers have voiced any issue with this.

This deal currently does not appear to have a specific ending date, so shop while supplies last!
