In a galaxy far, far away, your favorite “Star Wars” characters are ready to slay. Yes, Chewbacca is runway-ready, and C-3PO is a golden goddess serving looks. In Barbie’s world, “Star Wars” is all about high-fashion style.

Mattel just released four Barbies inspired by iconic characters in the “Star Wars” universe: C-3PO, Rey, Chewbacca and a Stormtrooper. The stunning dolls are outfitted in haute couture styles to resemble their assigned character. Yes, C-3PO is in a mini skirt and looks damn good. And don’t worry, Chewie fans — the Wookiee’s doll is wearing faux fur.

The dolls are released for preorder on May 4, which is observed as “Star Wars” Day in the fandom, but the collectable dolls aren’t cheap. Three of the dolls are $100, with the elaborate Chewbecca doll costing $150. The Barbies are slated to ship between May 12 and June 1, depending on which character you choose.

Mattel isn’t new to the “Star Wars” universe. The brand previously released three character-inspired dolls in August 2019, which are still available for purchase. Those couture Barbies were inspired by Darth Vader, Princess Leia and R2-D2.

While the dolls all have distinct character-based clothing, the diversity of the crew may leave fans a little disappointed. The majority of the seven-doll collection appears to be mostly white in appearance, though C-3PO is represented by a Black doll, and Chewbacca is represented by an East Asian-appearing doll. The other five dolls appear to be white, with skin tones ranging from light to tan. It’s worth noting that Leia and Rey are white women in the series, and Darth Vader is also very pale when unmasked.

It does appear, however, that all the dolls have the classic Barbie silhouette, which Mattel has been tweaking in recent years. Notably, Barbie introduced curvy dolls in 2016, followed closely by dolls of varying heights and increased racial diversity. But it looks as if this progress — especially in terms of size diversity— hasn’t reached the brand’s high-fashion releases.

Regardless, the Force never looked so good. Pre-order the full “Star Wars” Barbie collection on Amazon below.
