Handheld contraption makes perfect little rice balls

Meet the kitchen accessory you didn’t know you needed.

A self-described “mombie” (mom zombie) who goes by @lilazi on TikTok shared a tool that her husband picked up that has been a godsend for feeding her kids.

“My husband likes to buy random gadgets, and here is one of the ones that are actually useful,” lilazi says at the beginning of the TikTok.

The tool has three oval-shaped compartments that you can scoop rice into. (Don’t cram the rice in, though — you want there to be some room for it to move around.)

After sealing the compartments, lilazi demonstrates how you have to shake the gadget for a couple seconds very vigorously, so at the end you’re left with three perfect rice balls.

“My kids won’t eat rice any other way,” lilazi explains, handing one of the balls to her oldest daughter.

You can also add finely chopped vegetables or seasonings to give flavor to the rice balls. They’re not just for kids, either — rice balls are the perfect addition to homemade bento boxes or appetizers.
