Cars continue driving as plane makes insane emergency landing on highway

A small plane was forced to make an emergency landing on a busy Canadian highway in a harrowing incident thas was caught on camera.

The aircraft’s pilot called the Quebec City Fire Department around 10:30 a.m. on April 16 to request special permission to land on Highway 40, which is located near the Jean-Lesage International Airport in Québec, the CBC reports.

In footage of the incident shared on Facebook by Carl Samson, the plane — a Piper PA-28 Cherokee — can be seen landing smoothly on the three-lane highway amid a medium flow of traffic.

Many vehicles can be seen flashing their hazards as traffic slows around the touched-down aircraft.

One motorist even gets close enough to borderline tailgate the plane as it attempts to pull off the busy highway.

Fire department spokesperson Bill Noonan told the CBC that the plane encountered a mechanical issue, forcing the pilot, who was not harmed, to make the emergency landing. Officials were able to remove the plane from the highway in less than an hour.
