These movies are streaming sooner than expected — how to watch 'Birds of Prey,' 'Onward' and more
Movie lovers have plenty of reasons to feel sad right about now.
Nearly all of America’s biggest theaters — including all Regal and AMC locations — are temporarily closing their doors. Meanwhile, movies like “No Time To Die,” “Mulan” and “Fast and Furious 9” have been delayed from their upcoming release dates.
But there’s a bright side. To keep viewers entertained while they’re stuck inside, studios are releasing countless in-theater films to home audiences early. Those titles include everything from kid-friendly animated films to high-stakes thrillers — and the list is probably set to get even bigger.
But for now, here are some of the movies coming early to your home screens, and how to watch each one.
‘Frozen 2’
Children (and parents!) rejoice: “Frozen 2” is streaming now. You can watch the sequel to the insanely popular Disney film — primed at-home for singalongs — with your entire family at home.
How to watch: Stream on Disney Plus, Amazon Prime or iTunes.
‘The Invisible Man’
If being stuck at home for the past week or so hasn’t freaked you out enough, this thriller is sure to do so. A horror-filled update of the classic Ralph Ellison novel, “The Invisible Man,” stars Elizabeth Moss as a woman who believes she’s being haunted by an unseeable version of her controlling ex-boyfriend.
How to watch: Now available on Amazon Prime
‘Onward’
“Onward” just premiered in theaters on March 6, and it’s coming to your home almost immediately. The Disney-Pixar film, which follows two teenage elves as they try to reunite with their dad, will be available for premium download on Disney Plus starting in early April.
How to watch: Available on Disney Plus starting April 3.
‘Birds of Prey’
Superhero fans who were disappointed with “Suicide Squad” will be excited to find that “Birds of Prey,” the spinoff series for Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, was received far better by critics and audiences alike. And now it’s available anywhere you want to watch it.
How to watch: Stream on Amazon Prime starting March 24.
‘Emma’
The classic Jane Austen novel has gotten another big-screen remake, thanks to this well-reviewed version by rookie filmmaker Autumn de Wilde. If you’re feeling a period drama with plenty of laughs, this is a safe bet.

‘The Hunt’
This controversial horror film was delayed from its original 2019 release date due to concerns about its political messages. But now, you can find out what all the outrage was about from the comfort of your couch, because “The Hunt” is available to stream online.
How to watch: Now available on Amazon Prime
‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’
Joining every other “Star Wars” film on Disney Plus, “The Last Jedi” is finally available to stream online. You can officially have an all-out marathon of the film series — or watch the movie by itself on Amazon.
