Democratic presidential candidates take Iowa by storm ahead of Monday caucus

Democratic presidential candidates furiously campaigned in Iowa on Sunday, a day before the first voting of the primary season.

Former Vice President Joe Biden started the day in the small town of Dubuque and was scheduled to trek west to Des Moines in time for the Super Bowl.

“This is the final stretch. We need to keep going,” he said on Twitter while urging volunteers to pitch in Sunday.

Saturday marked Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s return to campaigning after being trapped in Washington for President Trump’s impeachment trial. She told a crowd in Cedar Falls that the “number one” thing that “unites” everyone is “beating Donald Trump.”

On Sunday, the Minnesota Dem tried to shoot down rumors that she’s struck a deal with Biden to get him votes in districts where she doesn’t have a majority, and vice versa.

“He said ‘no.’ We said ‘no.’ There is no deal,” she said on “Fox News Sunday.” “I am just focused on our own race here. We have precinct captains all over the state.”

The last-minute cancellation of a highly anticipated Des Moines Register poll of likely caucus-goers threw a monkey wrench into the campaigning. The paper and its partners CNN and Mediacom scrapped the poll Saturday night following complaints from Pete Buttigieg’s campaign over irregularities.

The former South Bend, Ind., mayor appeared on five Sunday shows, telling CNN’s “State of the Union” he’s “better positioned to beat Donald Trump than any of my competitors.”

Previous polls showed Biden in a tight race with Sens. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, according to the Associated Press. Surveys also indicated entrepreneur Andrew Yang could make an impressive showing.

Sanders reportedly spent the day doing meet-and-greets at his field offices and was expected to attend a Super Bowl watch party in Des Moines.

“Our volunteers have knocked on 500,000 doors in Iowa and made over 10 million phone calls since January 1st to make sure we win,” the socialist firebrand tweeted.

Warren was scheduled to hold rallies in Indianola and Ames.

“Iowa, you have a decision to make,” she tweeted. “Will we let the fear pull us back — or are we going to fight back?
