Alex Rodriguez opens up to Jimmy Fallon about rehearsing his proposal to Jennifer Lopez

When Alex Rodriguez popped the question to Jennifer Lopez back in March, the moment was absolutely picture perfect, and the former New York Yankee put a lot of work into making sure of that.

Sitting down with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday's Tonight Show, Rodriguez opened up about the gorgeous proposal, which went down on the beach, right at sunset, while on vacation in the Bahamas.

"I planned it for about six months," Rodriguez revealed. "[And] the three days prior to me going down on one knee and getting engaged, I rehearsed for three days in a row. Because I wanted the sunset to be perfect."

However, he wasn't just getting down on his knee alone on the beach. "I had my assistant Ashley with me," Rodriguez explained.

"One day, the sunset was at 6:27, the next day it was at 6:29, and then the third day it was raining!" he recalled. "So I kind of [decided on] 6:29, and I said, 'This is the time that I'm gonna do it.' And it worked out well."

Fallon held up a snapshot from the heartfelt proposal, which showed Rodriguez kneeling in the sand and sliding the enormous engagement ring on to Lopez's finger, and the late night host couldn't help but point out how Rodriguez was wearing his own World Series ring when popping the question.

"I will say, that's almost as big as the ring you gave Jennifer," Fallon joked.

The power couple announced their engagement on Instagram on March 9, sharing a photo of Lopez's massive sparkler on her ring finger. The ring itself is estimated to be worth around $1 million.
