Meghan Markle’s activist friend jailed and brutally tortured in Saudi Arabia prison

Meghan Markle‘s activist friend is locked up and being brutally tortured in Saudi Arabia for her contentious work.

RadarOnline.com has learned Loujain al-Hathloul was arrested in May 2018 along with seven others who were in the area campaigning for the better treatment of women. She was in the process of setting up a domestic violence shelter called Aminah, which means “safe” in English, when she was taken in. Now, and for the past eight months, she is being detained in solitary confinement and questioned. She is being tortured with electric shocks, waterboarded and threatened with rape.

According to a CNN article written by her brother, al-Hathloul said the torture sessions have been overseen by Saud al-Qahtani, a former senior aide to Crown Prince Mohammed.

In 2016, Loujain al-Hathloul, 29, attended a One Young World humanitarian summit with Markle, 37, Emma Watson, Cher and Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau. In one photo, the former Suits actress is seen posing with al-Hathloul, poet Fatima Bhutto and former president of Ireland Mary Robinson.

Before marrying into the royal family, Markle was an avid humanitarian, primarily concentrating on the issue of gender equality. Apart from her Hollywood career, she also focused on supporting important causes such as that of One Young World, a UK-based not-for-profit that works with young people to solve world issues.

The now-Duchess of Sussex was even an OYW Counsellor at the 2014 Dublin and 2016 Ottawa Summits.

Meghan Markle has not addressed her friend’s arrest.
