Michigan family kicked off American Airlines flight in Miami because of 'body odor'

Coming home from vacation really stinks.

That’s what what one Michigan family learned when they were kicked off their flight back to Detroit Wednesday because of body odor.

Yossi Adler and Jennie Adler were headed home from their trip in Miami with their 19-month-old daughter when the incident occurred, the two told Local 10 News. They had boarded their American Airlines flight at Miami International Airport, but were soon escorted off.

“All of a sudden, as soon as they took us off, they closed the gate and then they said, 'Sorry, sir, some people complained you had body odor and we're not letting you back on,’” Yossi Adler told the outlet.

“There’s no body odor that we have. There’s nothing wrong with us,” he continued.

American Airlines confirmed to the Daily News the family was removed from their flight because of their smell.

“The Adler family were asked to deplane last night after several passengers, along with our crew members, complained about their body odor,” the company said in a statement. “The family were provided hotel accommodations and meals, and rebooked on a flight to Detroit today.”

Calls to the Adler family were not immediately returned.

Yossi Adler told Local 10 News that they had taken off for Detroit Thursday, and were hoping they would be able to find their luggage.

They had allegedly been told previously that their suitcases would be taken off the plane and given to them, but that didn’t happen.

“They have our car seat, stroller, everything,” Jennie Adler told the outlet.

The family isn’t buying the airline’s reasoning for their removal.

“I want them to own up to what really happened and to tell me the truth. What was it?" Yossi Adler said.

“We stopped several people in the airport and, it's embarrassing, but we asked them, 'Do you think we smell?’” Jennie Adler said. “Because we just got kicked off a plane for smelling.”
