Goldie Hawn once gave pregnant Kate Hudson a bizarre delivery room gift

Giving birth is not a party. But pregnant Kate Hudson will surely have a few laughs in-between contractions thanks to her momGoldie Hawn.

A due-any-day-now Hudson, 39, and the Overboard actress, 72, appeared together on the Thursday, September 20, episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show and shared stories from the delivery room. (Hawn was by her daughter’s side when she gave birth to sons Ryder, 14, and Bingham, 6).

One time, Hawn came to the maternity ward bearing what Hudson described as a “huge” magnolia. “She wanted me to think of my vagina as a magnolia flower,” the Fabletics cofounder quipped. “And I was like, ‘I never want to think of my vagina that big ever.’”

While Hudson was in stirrups — which means time to push — Hawn headed out for a snack. “I said, ‘I’m really hungry so I’m just going to come back,’” the star explained. “I came back with pizza and Doritos.” (She didn’t miss the birth!)

Hudson’s favorite memory is when Hawn tried to plan a day while she was in labor. “[She] said, ‘I’m about to take a swim and I was going to get a message,’” the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress revealed. “How long do you think you’re going to be laboring?’”

When Bingham made his debut in 2011, Hudson was shocked that he was a boy. “I thought that the last baby was going to be a girl, so much that I did knit a pink blanket,” she said. “And when I saw his penis coming out I thought, ‘Boy, did I screw up!’”

There will be no surprises this time. Hudson and her musician boyfriend Danny Fujikawa know for certain they are expecting a girl. “I had to be prepared if it was another boy, which I would have been happy with,” she told DeGeneres. “I just wanted to know.”

Hudson shares Ryder with ex-husband Chris Robinson and Bingham with former fiancé Matt Bellamy.
