Details emerge from death of college football 'superfan' Big Lee
A college football “superfan” was reportedly killed on Saturday. Details of what happened are starting to emerge.
The man, Lee “Big Lee” Martin, was a passionate LSU Tigers fan. He was reportedly shot and killed outside his home in his home in Metairie, La. The shooting was reportedly the result of a feud with a next-door neighbor.

The man shot dead Saturday morning (May 5) on Bonnabel Boulevard in Metairie has been identified as Lee “Big Lee” Martin, the LSU superfan known for elaborate displays of purple and gold decor in front of his Bonnabel Boulevard home, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Office Joseph Lopinto said.
Speaking with reporters Saturday, Lopinto said officers were called to Martin’s home at 615 Bonnabel Boulevard around 10:51 a.m. Saturday to respond to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Martin’s body on the ground on the side of the home.
Lopinto said the shooting was the result of a dispute between Martin and his neighbor, Wayne Higgins, 78, who lived at 619 Bonnabel Boulevard. The two had an “ongoing feud for over 10 years” that escalated Saturday morning, he said. Lopinto said the neighbor is currently in custody.
Martin is known for having a big LSU display in front of his house. He also has a big Tigers-themed truck.

Martin had a history of run-ins with the law. He was accused of hitting a woman with his tow-truck on purpose in 2017 and attempting to tow someone’s car while the person was still inside, among other things.
