UCF declares itself national champions, will hold a parade
Central Florida doesn’t mind a little Fake News. It’s not fake in their mind, anyway.
After UCF was left out of the four-team College Football Playoff and upset Auburn in the Peach Bowl, the school’s athletic director declared the undefeated Knights the national champions.
“We’re definitely getting a banner,” Danny White told 96.9 The Game on Wednesday. “We won a national championship and we’re going to treat it as such. These kids deserve that. Like other football programs do all across the country, you claim a national championship, you’re the only undefeated team in a season, we’re going to hang a banner.”
He added that a parade will also take place “hopefully this weekend” for the 13-0 squad.
The football team’s Twitter account remained on brand too, changing its name to “2017 National Champions.”

Of course, the actual CFP national championship game — sorry, UCF — will be between Alabama and Georgia on Monday at 8 p.m.
