A remastered Call of Duty 4 is coming November 4th!
After a steady supply of rumor, speculation, and of course leaks, the moment has finally arrived -- the next installment of the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Infinity Warfare, has finally been unveiled. And it comes with a remastered version of the best game in the series, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare! And if the first details are any indication, the internet was pretty right on the money when it came to this one.
Infinite Warfare will indeed take place in space, a new frontier for the series and developer Infinity Ward. But for those off put by the far future setting, do not fret: the Legacy Editions of the game will indeed include that remaster of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, as the internet revealed long ago. That remaster will feature the original campaign entirely redone for the next generation, in addition to a multiplayer mode featuring 10 of the game's most famous maps (so far confirmed to be Crash, Backlot, and Crossfire).
Infinity Ward Dave Stohl had this to say about the official reveal today:
"With Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, we are taking Call of Duty to places fans have never experienced in the series. On one hand, this game is the kind of gritty, boots on the ground, visceral war story that Call of Duty is known for. On the other, its future setting takes players on a journey of epic scale and proportions, providing incredible gameplay innovations and new experiences for our fans. This is a grand scale, old-school, all-out war in an epic new-school setting. And it's going to be a hell of a lot of fun."
The developer also teased that for the first time ever they were developing a Zombies mode for one of their games, but didn't go into much detail beyond that at this time. The first trailer, which presents a brief look at a war between the forces of Earth and an insidious colony organization known as the Settlement Defense Front, did not feature any true gameplay, but was composed of pre-rendered material and cutscenes. Tradition dictates gameplay will arrive during Sony's E3 press conference though, so stay tuned the week of June 13th for more from the game.
