Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is your next COD game!

Updated

Rumors have been swirling since the beginning of the year about what would be a part of the new Call of Duty game for 2016. But unlike most years, the majority of the rumors don't pertain to the actual content of the game (which is almost 100% certain to be set in space), but instead what the game might come packaged in with — namely, a remaster of the original and much beloved Modern Warfare games.

Rumblings were first made about the concept weeks ago, but the last few days have unleashed a swarm of leaks that seemingly confirm the existence of such a thing. First there were the below Amazon listings, which were first uncovered via Twitter:

That alone wasn't enough to guarantee anything, but was only more fuel to the fire when an even bigger leak came out: an alleged retailer card from Target that spells out (quite literally) the existence of a Modern Warfare Remaster, one that would be bundled with a version of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare dubbed the "Legacy" edition. Via Call of Duty news site Charlie Intel, here's the card in question:

But what of an official response from Activision itself? Well believe it or not there has been one, but probably not the response you would expect from a corporate brand account -- that of the pants emoji and the poop emoji side by side in response to a fan tweet about the possibility of the remaster. The sentiment should be quite clear, but here's the tweet for context.

Considering all the leaks and speculation starting to pile up, it should be a matter of days (if not hours) until we actually get a full reveal of what the next Call of Duty game has in store, and whether or not this mainstay of the past will be a part of it. Stay tuned.
